Charmayne “Maxee” Maxwell, a singer of ’90s R&B group Brownstone, has died after suffering a fall at her home, according to the Associated Press. She was 46.
Brownstone signed to Michael Jackson’s MJJ label in 1994 and broke out with “If You Love Me,” a single from their debut album From the Bottom Up, that year. They later earned a Grammy nomination for their performance of the song.
The group went on to release another album in 1997, but haven’t officially made music together since.
According to the AP, Maxwell is survived by her husband, music producer Carsten Schack, and her 11-year-old son, Nicolaj Hojer.
