Dream House

It makes sense, in an abstract story-structure way, to crossbreed The Shining, with its dad channeling the ghosts of killers past, and Shutter Island, with its detective who learns nothing is what it seems — including him. But this suburban gothic is a logy, convoluted mess. First Daniel Craig plays a novelist with a wife (Rachel Weisz) and two daughters, then he’s the dad’s dark double, then the alter ego turns nice, and it just gets more sketchy and ”Huh?” from there.
